Ken Poland Founder

Operating since 1972

Ken Poland set up the lab in 1972 on this same site. Both of Ken's son's Rob and Dave worked at the lab through its time, along with many other prominent West London technicians. Today 36 years later the Lab is still run by Ken's son Rob Poland.

Planning a Milling Centre

At the end of 2006 talks started between Rob Poland,(lab owner) Sal Ibrahim,(dental technician) Steven Pope (Engineer) about introducing the Milling Centre with the plan of producing exceptionally good fitting copings that offered excellent porcelain support something the lab had not be able to receive consistently from anywhere else. 3M's Lava™ offered the best solution in terms of fit and by far the best aesthetics and the strength of their Zirconia is seen to be by far the best. With the right team running it and 3M's Technology Superb results could be achieved.

It was always felt that the machine would be able to handle additional capacity from surrounding labs provided the desired results could be achieved with the equipment. In July 2007 the 3m Lava™ milling machine and scanner were installed and production started initially for Ken Poland Dental studio. By late summer the team felt that they had a good understanding of the equipment, its strengths and its limitation to enable them to offer a service outside the lab. With the intention of producing the same high quality of coping that was now being produced for Ken Poland Dental Studio.
